Раздел 3. Articles. Артикли

Артикли – это служебные слова, которые не имеют самостоятельного значения и являются особыми определениями существительного.

В английском языке существуют два артикля – неопределенный и определенный.

Место артикля

Артикль ставят перед существительным, к которому он относится. Если перед существительным стоит определение, выраженное прилагательным, то артикль ставят перед всем сочетанием.

Possessive Притяжательные

Абсолютная форма Общая форма

употребляется без зависимого употребляется перед существительного зависимым существительным;

The pencil is mine. исключает артикль - my pencils

употребляется после all, both –all my pencils

Функции притяжательных местоимений в предложении:

Подлежащее - My pen is red and yours is blue.

Определение – My pen is red and your pen is blue.

Дополнение - My pen is lost, give me yours.

Именная часть сказуемого – This pen is yours.

*Русское местоимение «свой» соответствует английским притяжательным местоимениям. Если «свой» отсутствует, но подразумевается, то вместо артикля the употребляется притяжательное местоимение.

Например: Сними пальто! - Take off (the) your coat.

Demonstrative Указательные

К указательным местоимениям относятся местоимения this, that, such, same.

Указательное местоимение this этот, эта, это, имеет форму множественного числа these эти, а местоимение that тот, та, то имеет форму множественного числа those me:

Указательные местоимения such такой, такая, такое, такие и same тот же самый, та же самая, то же самое, те же самые имеют одну форму для единственного и множественного числа. После местоимения such существительное в единственном числе употребляется с неопределенным артиклем:

She is such a beautiful girl. – Она такая красивая девушка.

Местоимение same обычно употребляется с определенным артиклем:

Read the same text, please! - Читайте тот же самый текст, пожалуйста!

Функции указательных местоимений в предложении:

1. Подлежащее:

This is a map of the world. Это - карта мира.

2. Именная часть сказуемого:

Everything will remain the same, I believe. - Я полагаю, все останется таким же.

3. Дополнение:

Не told me about this. - Он рассказал мне об этом.

4. Определение:

This newspaper is very popular with our students. - Эта газета пользуется очень большой популярностью у наших студентов.

Иногда, чтобы избежать повторения уже упомянутого существительного, употребляется указательное местоимение that (those) с предлогом:

Winter in England is milder than that (winter) on the continent.
