ВВЕДЕНИЕ
Данное учебное пособие предназначено для курсантов 1 курса судомеханического факультета на начальном этапе обучения по дисциплине "Английский язык". Целью данного курса является обучение как устной, так и письменной форме общения. Для обучения устной речи в учебное пособие включены упражнения и задания, помогающие обучаемым приобрести навыки подготовленного и неподготовленного монологического высказывания, развить умения и навыки диалогической речи и научиться участвовать в беседах и дискуссиях, а также воспринимать на слух различные сообщения по изучаемой тематике. Особое внимание уделяется изучению грамматического материала и расширению активного и пассивного словаря общеразговорной и морской лексики. Учебное пособие включает упражнения на активизацию новой лексики, справочный грамматический материал и лабораторные работы на закрепление полученных знаний. Наряду с тренировочным лексико-грамматическим материалом в пособии предусмотрен раздел на повторение изученной лексики и грамматики для подготовки обучаемых к выполнению контрольных заданий.

LESSON 2 Единственное / множественное число существительных Множественное число имен существительных образуется путем прибавления окончания -s, которое произносится: [s] – после глухих согласных, [z] – после гласных и звонких согласных; или -es, которое произносится [iz] – после букв s, ss, x, ch, tch, sh dress – dress es brush – brush es [z] – после о tomato – tomato es но:radio – radio s. Неопределенный артикль ставится перед исчисляемыми существительными в единственном числе. 2. LESSON 1 Оборот there is / are Для выражения наличия или отсутствия в определенном месте какого-нибудь лица или предмета употребляется оборот there is / are со значением "имеется, находится, есть, существует". В предложении с оборотом there is существительное, следующее за глаголом to be в единственном числе, употребляется с неопределенным артиклем a / an, а существительное во множественном числе употребляется без артикля. Обстоятельство места ставится в конце предложения. Предложения с оборотом there is / are следует переводить на русский язык, начиная с обстоятельства местаили со сказуемого, если обстоятельство отсутствует. Оборот there is произносится [DFqr'iz], there are произносится [DFqr'R].
В вопросительном предложении глагол to be (в личной форме) ставится на первое место перед there. Например:
В полном отрицательном предложении после оборота there + to be ставится отрицательное местоимение no:

On the main deck there are officers' cabins and officers' and ratings' messrooms. The galley is also on the main deck. It is in the middle of the ship between two messrooms. The Chief Mate's cabin is on the starboard side to the right of the officers' messroom. The Chief Engineer's cabin is on the portside to the left of the ratings' messroom. Down the corridor there is a laundry and shower spaces. There is a hospital on the Sedov. It is in her fore part next to the ship's bow. Downstairs both in the bow and in the stern there is accommodation for cadets. The ratings' accommodation is in the ship's fore part below the main deck. LESSON 1 Модальные глаголы can, may, must Модальные глаголы обозначают возможность, способность, необходимость совершения действия, выраженного инфинитивом следующего за ним смыслового глагола. После модальных глаголов can, may, must инфинитив употребляется без частицы to. Вопросительные предложения с этими модальными глаголами образуются путем постановки can, may, must перед подлежащим, а отрицательные предложения – добавлением частицы not к модальному глаголу.
