Despatch of sixteen thousand maids to Dvaraka and return of kundalas to Aditi

Vaishampayana said — О Janamejaya, with the killing of Narakasura, who was valorous like Indra, Shri Krishna, the younger brother of Indra inspected the palace of Narakasura.

Then he went to the treasure house of the great demon and found the enormous riches and several types of games.

There were heaps of pearls, beads, corals, and moon — stones, like the mounatains, besides the collections of diamonds. He found several articles made of Jambunada and Satakumbha gold, which were glittering like the burning fire.

They found many beds as well as the lion therones. He found there a huge umbrella, which was issuing rays of gold like the cloud of the rainy season. Its pole was made of gold and its lustre was resembling that of the white moon.

It is heard that Narakasura had snatched that chatra from Varuna. The quantitis of riches, gems, diamonds and other valuables found in the treasure of Narakasura could hardly be found with Indra or Kubera, nor was (such accummulation of wealth) ever heard of.

With the killing of the demons known as Bhaumasura, Nisunda, and Hayagriva - the Danava all the Danavas who were left alive, besides the guards of the treasure, brought those valuable gems and other precious articles of inner apartments to Shri Krishna who was competent to possess all of them.

Daityas said — О Janamejaya, all the different types of valuable gems and diamonds and the wild elephants on whom the carpets which are spread are studded with pearls. The ropes with which they are bound are mixed with gold wires. Their chains are very long. They are decorated with the weapons like bows, tomaras and others. Their goods are quite beautiful. With the different types of flags unfurling over them, they look quite beautiful and spotted. The number of such elephants is twenty thousand. The number of cow elephant is double of this number. There are eight lakhs of the country horses, which are the best. Besides there, there is a large number of cows. Whatever numbers of all of these is required by you, arrangements shall be made to send them to Dvaraka.

О lord, there are fine woolen clothes and several types of beds are there besides beautiful birds which can speak different languages, which are pleasing to look at.

There is huge quantity of sandal wood, agaru, kalagoru and the riches which have been collected from all the three world are stored here. According to dharma all of them are now owned by you. We shall send all of them to Dvaraka inhabited by the people of Vrsni and Andhaka races. All the pearls found with the Gandharvas and the Nagas, besides all the wealth, are available in the treasure of Narakasura”

Vaishampayana said — О Janamejaya, Shri Krishna accepted all the wealth and riches of Narakasura which were shifted to Dvaraka, after properly testing the same.

Thereafter Shri Krishna himself placed the chatra of Varuna over Garuda. He himself was seated over the fast moving Garuda — the foremost of the birds. Thereafter he went to the Mani-parvata — the excellent one.

The auspicious wind was blowing there. The gems were shining like the spotless sun rays.

Reaching there, Madhusudana found many doors with arches shining like the lapiz lazuli. The flags were also fluttering.

The Maniparvat was the abode of the maiden girls, which appeared like the cloud studded like lighting. The astonishing types of canopies were made there, which added grace to the palace.

Madhusudana found the dear and excellent daughters of the gods, prominent Gandharvas, who had been imprisoned in the mountain caves. All of them had fleshy and developed buttocks, Narakasura had collected them from all the directions, who had been lodged there.

The area was pleasent like the heaven. Living there, the maiden girls could not be defeated by Narakasura. All of them had discarded their passions and they lived there comfortably like the goddesses.

The region was pleasent and comfortable like the heaven. They made only a single tuft and were clad in coloured garments. All the girls surrounded Shri Krishna from all the sides, who had controlled all the sense organs.

Because of their performing vratas and fasting they had gone lean and thin. They were always desirous of meeting Shri Krishna. All the girls went to Shri Krishna — the lion of the Yadu race and stood before him with folded hands.

Learning about the killing of the great asuras Narakasura, Mura, Hayagriva, and Nisunda, all the damsel surrounded Shri Krishna from all the sides.

Huge bodied Raksas served as guards for those girls. They were of considerable advanced age. All of them offered their salutation to the lord of the race of Yadus.

Shri Krishna, having the vast eyes like the bull, when spotted by them, they at once developed an idea to have him as their husband.

Looking at the moon like pleasent face of Shri Krishna all their limbs were filled with delight and they spoke to Shri Krishna.

“Whatever had been spoken by the wind god as well as Narada who is aware of the feelings of all the bhutas (or the living beings) has came out to be true today.

He had declared that the omnipresent Narayana, after killing Narakasura — the son of the earth, would be your husband.

The beautiful Syama, about whom we had been hearing since long, we have got an opportunity to have an audience with the same lord in person. By meeting with you the lives of all of us have been successful.

Then Shri Krishna, the yourger brother of Indra, assured all the lotus eyed damsels, looked at them and talked with them.

Thereafter Madhusudana Kesava, honoured all of them appropriately and made them mount over the palanquin to be carried by the Danavas named kinkaras.

The kinkaras in thousands who moved with the speed of wind carried the palanquins. The noise they created at that time was spread everywhere.

The peak of the Maniparbata which was excellent and was praised was shining like the spotless sun and the moon. It had the doors of gold studded with gems.

The Mountain had flocks of birds, herds of elephants, deer and the clustir trees. There had been a large number of monkeys also in the mountain. The stone rocks of that place were quite beautiful besides the stags, boars, Ruru-deer also lived there. There were a number of springs which (fall from considerable heights). The mountain had many peaks. Its peaks and trees looked extremely beautiful. The peak of the Maniparbata was astonishing and unthinkable. Flocks of deer kept jumping there. The flocks of patridge birds were found there in abundance. The peacocks uttered loud cries there.

The immensely valorous loud Krishna uprooted the illustrious mountain peak with both his hands and placed it over the back of Garuda.

Garuda — who was the best of the birds, started flying playfully, carrying Shri Krishna with his wife.

His body was as vast as the peaks of Himalaya. The king of birds forcefully moved his wings which created huge noise in all the directions.

He damaged several of the mountain peaks, uprooted the trees, shattered the huge clouds and carried some of them with him uprooting them, while flying.

Passing the solar and the lunar regions, the bird who could fly with speed of the wind, was controlled by Shri Krishna.

Reaching the Meru mountain, which was served by the humans as well as the gods, lord Madhusudana, visited all the temples there.

О Naresvara, causing pain to the enemies, he crossed the regions of Visvadevas, Marudganas, Sadhyas and the shining places of Asvani kumdras, entered the heaven. Thereafter, Janardana, reaching Indrabhavana, entered the same.

Descending from Garuda, he met Indra — the god of gods, who delightfully felicilated him.

Thereafter Janardana, who never fell from his glory, together with his wife handed over the ear-rings of Aditi to Indra, offering his salutation to him.

Indra welcomed Shri Krishna, offering him several types of peaks and gems. Similarly Saci — the daughter of Puloma, welcomed Satyabhama appropriately.

Thereafter, Indra together with Shri Krishna, jointly entered with the kundalas in the abode of Aditi.

Both the noble souls met auspicious Aditi — the mother of gods and who was always served by the apsaras. Indra the son of Aditi and the beloved of saci met the chaste Aditi.

Thereafter Indra the son of Aditi as well as Shri Krishna handed over both the kundalas to the mother offering their salutation at her feet.

Then Indra, placing Janardana ahead praised his prowess immensely. Aditi on her part, embraced both her sons felicitated them, blessed them appropriately.

Both Saci and Satyabhama too delightfully touched the feet of adorable Aditi. Thereafter the glorious mother of the gods affectionately conversed with them.

Thereafter, Aditi — the mother of gods spoke the realistic words to lord Janardana, “O son, you are invincible from all the living beings. Like Indra, you too are invincible. You will also be adored in the world like Indra.

The beautiful Satyabhama is lovely looking, well known in the universe, having the fragrant body, charming, always youthful, virtuous and is the best among the women. О Krishna till such time you live on earth in human form, upto that time the bride Satyabhama shall never grow old.

Having been thus honoured by Aditi — the mother of gods, with the permission of Devaraja Indra, getting adored by him with the presents of the gems, the valorous, Krishna, together with Satyabhama, mounting over Garuda, getting praised by the Rishis, started roaming about in the garden of Indra.

Shri Krishna came across the Parijata tree in the garden of Indra, which was quite giganetic and divine, which was adored by the gods. It was blossoming with divine flowers, issued pleasent fragrance and v/as the best.

By going near it, one was remained of the events of his earlier birth. It was protected by the gods. But immesely valorous Krishna forcibly uprooted it and placed it over the back of Garuda.

At the same time Shri Krishna and Sudama found a group of apsaras there who also met Satyabhama who was quite youthful. Thereafter, Shri Krishna moved towards Dvaraka by airway.

When Indra was informed of Krishna’s carrying the Parjata tree with him, then he supported him saying, “He had done a great job for me.”

Then Shri Krishna getting adored by the gods and praised by the Rishis proceeded from the heaven to Dvaraka.

After having been respected by Indra, the god of gods he covered the long journey like the the short way and spotted, the city of Yadavas in a short while.

Shri Krishna, the younger brother of Indra, after performing the huge task returned to Dvaraka.
