О Rajendra, the Daityas, Raksasas, and the kings were attacking one another with parighas from all the sides. Other valorous warriors shooting the snake like arrows, sharpened at the rocks, wounded the opponents deeply.

The valorous Daityas and Raksasas attacked one another like mad elephants with the arrows shot from the bows. reduced to pieces with the attack of the clubs.

Chapter 123

Killing of Vicakra

Vaishampayana said — О Kin£ in the meantime dwelfight started there Shri Krishna, the holder of Saranga bow, fought with Vicakra. О king, Balabhadra fought with Hamsa and Satyaki fough with Dimbhaka.

The man eater Hidimba started fighting with Vasudeva and Ugrasena.

O Rajendra, the rest of the warriors, who never submitted to anyone, started fighting with other warriors. Lord Krishna shot shot seventy three arrows at the chest of the Daitya.

The blades of the arrows were quite sharp. Creating a surprise in the battle he attacked the Daitya. Then the Danava, also stretching the cord of the bow upto the ears, shot an arrow at the chest of Shri Krishna in full view of Indra — the lord of Saci.

Having been hurt with the arrow over the chest, lord Janardana — Visnu started vomiting blood, in the same way as during the beginning of the creation, had emitted the people from his month.

Thereafter, the enraged lord Hrsikesa, cut of the banner of the Danava with a sickle like arrow. Then shooting four arrows, he killed all the four horses of his chariot and by shooting three arrows, he killed his charioteer as well. Then like the war of Taraka — the Daitya, he blew his great conch.

Then the Danava, who had been fainted in anger, suddenly jumped from the chariot and holding astonishing and powerful club, initially attacked over his kirita crown, and then he struck his head with the same. Thereafter he started roaring like a lion quite loudly.

Thereafter, the Danava, picked up a huge boulder and rotating it ten times, shot it at the chest of Shri Krishna.

Finding the boulder to be approaching him, Shri Krishna held it in his hand and he stuck it back over the Daitya. With the attack of the same, the Daitya felt as if having been killed and breathing deeply, he fell down on earth.

Thereafter, the Daitya was enraged. When enraged he looked doubly resplendent. Then he holding a huge parigha said to Janardana.

"O Govinda, I shall shatter to pieces, your pride, with the use of this parigha. You are well aware of my prowess during the fight between the gods and the Daityas.

О Janardana, I have the same vast arms and I am also the same. О valorous one, you have already experienced my prowess, but still you are fighting with me. О valorous one, you better stop the parigha which is being thrown with my arms".

Thus speaking, the Daitya, in full view of all the people, shot the parigha over Shri Krishna, the holder of Samkha, cakra, and gada.

But lord Krishna, held the parigha in his hand and declared, "Now you will be killed". Thus saying the cut the parigha into pieces with his sharp edged sword.

Then the asura, uprooted a huge tree with many of its brances and roots, and threw at the immensely glorious Shri Krishna.

But Madhava — Shri Krishna, cut off the tree into pieces with his sword. Thus Shri Krishna kept on sporting with the Daitya for a long time. Then Mahavisnu thought of putting an end to the Daitya. He held a sharp arrow in his hand and joined it with the fire arrow and shot it at the Daitya.

The arrow, in full view of all those present there, reduced the Daitya to ashes and them returned to the quiver of the lord, as before.

Then all Daityas, who were still alive, escaping death, fled in all the ten directions and reached the great ocean, from where they have not returned till now.
