Narada’s highlighting the glory of Shri Krishna

Shri Krishna said — О Yadavas, all of you enjoy the spotless glory. Your tapas prowess and concentration of mind besides the evil thoughts possessed by you against the asura Naraka, the son of earth, has been killed.

The enormous riches which have been collected by the demon Kinkara are present before you. All of you are the owner of this wealth.” Thus speaking to them, lord Krishna kept quite.

Listening to the words of lord Vasudeva, the people of Vrsni, Bhoja and Andhaka races were immensely delighted. All of them felt thrilled. Then praising Shri Krishna all of them said with folded hands.

«O valorous one, it is not a surprise to find such a generosity in Shri Krishna, the son of Devaki, which is beyond the reach of the gods even. By performing such a difficult task, you bring up your relatives for their welfare, by your own achievements.

Thereafter, the ladies of the Dasarha race, besides the queens of the king Ugrasena, blissfully arrived there to meet Shri Krishna.

Then the seven daughters of Vasudeva (known by the names of Sahadeva, Santideva, Shrideva, Devaraksita, VrkadevI, UpadevI, and Devaki), besides Rohini with a beautiful face glanced at Shri Krishna and Balarama, seated over the lion throne.

Both Balarama and Shri Krishna, leaving aside others, first of all bowed in reverance to Rohini and then to Devaki.

The mother Devaki looked graceful with both the sons having the bull like vast eyes, as Aditi looks graceful with her sons Mitra and Varuna.

At the same time, there arrived the daughter of Devaki known by the name of Ekananasa who could take to any form at will.

It was she at the indication of time and date of whom, Shri Krishna — the god of gods was born and because of whom, Shri Krishna, killed Kamsa with his servents.

The said girl was gracefully being brought up in the house of the king of Vrsni dynasty. At the command of lord Vasudeva, she was brought up there like a daughter.

The girl who was terrific was born on earth for the protection of Shri Krishna and came to be known as Ekananasa.

All the Yadavas delightfully adored her because she protected the divine child Shri Krishna.

Shri Krishna meeting her sister, like a friend, held her hand in his hand.

Similarly the valorous Balarama, embraced his beautiful sister and smelt her head. Then he also held hand with his left hand.

Ekananasa, then stood in between Balarama and Shri Krishna in full view of all the ladies present there. She, holding a golden lotus in her hand looked like the goddess Laksmi, who stands over a lotus flower, looking graceful.

The ladies poured the shower of unbroken rice over them, besides the welfare flowers besides the fried rice and then left for their respective abodes.

Thereafter all the Yddavas, adoring Shri Krishna and praising his divine deeds, pleasently took their seats before them.

The immensely glorious and valorous Shri Krishna, enhancing the love of the citizens, having been adored by them, appeared immensely graceful as Indra looks graceful with the gods.

When all the Yadavas had taken their seats, then at the command of Indra, Narada arrived before Shri Krishna in the assembly of the Yadavas.

The adorable divine Rishi Narada, having been well felicited by all the Yadavas, holding the hand of Shri Krishna took his excellent seat.

Then Narada, taking his seat with comfort said to the people of Vrsni dynasty. “You take it for granted that I have arrived here at the command of Indra — the god of gods.

О great warriors resembling the lions among the rulers, you listen from me the valorous feats performed by Shri Krishna since his childhood.

The evil minded Kariisa — the son of Ugrasena, had imprisoned his father trampled over all the Yadavas, usurped the kingdom. The evil minded-destroyer of his race, look refuge with Jarasandha insulted all the people of Vrsni, Bhoja and Andhaka dynasties.

At that point of time in order to establish the task of the relatives besides the kiths and kins, and for the protection of Ugrasena, the illustrious Vasudeva, saved the life of his son Krishna from Kamsa.

The said son of Vasudeva is chaste Madhusudana, was living in the gopa family near Mathura, where he performed astonishing feats.

An astonishing story about him had been current in that locality, which has been witnessed by the people of Surasena. During his infancy he was sleeping under a cart in the courtyard. At that point of time, a terrific demoness Putana, with a gigantic body taking to the form of a bird, was killed by him.

She intended Shri Krishna to suck the nipple of her breast coated with poison, but was killed at his hands. The said demoness was witnessed by the forest dweller cowherds, themselves.

They spoke at that time, “This child has been reborn under the cart. Because of that the child Krishna came to be known as Adhoksaja. It was indeed a strange event that the infant Krishna pushed that cart with his big toe and over turned it.

Performing his childhood play, once his mother bound him with a rope. In the same condition he dragged the mortar and while so doing, he uprooted two huge Arjuna trees. At that time, he having been bound with the rope around the waist, came to be known as Damodara.

Then the lord Hari - Vasudeva indulging in child like sport, defeated the horrible great serpent Kaliya.

The same lord Hari, in the full view of Akrura, took to his divine form when adored by the serpents in the Nagabhavana.

Mahatma Krishna the intelligent son of Shri Krishna, finding the cows, suffering from the heat and cold, and in order to save the cows who desired their protection, raised the mountain Govardhana continuousely over his hand for a week.

Similarly another horrible strong, killer of the humans, having a gigantic body, known by the name of Arista arrived in the form of a bull but was killed at the hands of lord Vasudeva. He was extermely wicked.

The valorous Danava Dhenuka having a gignatic body was evil minded and was also killed at the hands of Balarama for the safety of the cows.

Shri Krishna - the destroyer of the enemies, had killed Mitreghna the wolves (created by him) who had arrived there for the killing of Vasudeva.

Once Shri Krishna together with Balarama the son of Rohini, while wandering in the forest in the form of cowherds, again killed a powerful Daitya and frightened Kamsa.

Purosottama Shri Hari son of Vasudeva while living in Vajra, finding a Daitya in the form of a horse, who was immensely strong, was killed by him.

The intelligent Balarama — the son of Rohini, killed Pralamba — the great Danava and the minister of Kamsa, with the administring of a fist.

Both the valorous sons of Vasudeva, who were illustrious like the divine princes, were initiated vajra in the Ksatriya dharma by the sage Brahma gargeya who kept on growing day by day.

Maharsi Gargya himself performed all the Samskaras of both the children since birth appropriately.

When both the brothers attained the youthful age, they looked like the two powerful lion cubs or like the intoxicated elephants.

Then they became resplendent like the sons of gods, stole the minds of the milk maids, became the prominent persons of Braj.

The other boys of Braj could not face them both in war, or other sports.

They have broad chests, long arms, and are thick and tall like the trunk of the Sal tree. Hearing this Kamsa felt painful at heart.

When Kamsa could not capture both the brothers Krishna and Balarama, by any means, then he captured Vasudeva,

Ugrasena and other relatives and imprisoned them in the prison like the thieves, and kept them under strong bondages. Both Vasudeva and Devaki had to suffer many agonies in the prison for a long time.

Putting his father in prison, Kamsa taking refuge with Jarasandha, Ahavrti and Bhismaka, started ruling the Surasena country.

Once Kamsa organised a great festival in Mathura, for the pleasure of lord Siva.

О Ugransena — the lord of the people, several of the wrestlers, dancers and the singers arrived on that occasion from several countries.

At that point of time, the immesely illustrious Kamsa, made a sports chamber by the best of artisans, spending enormous riches.

Thousands of platforms were built there, which were filled to the capacity with the people of the city as well as from other Janapadas, who looked like the planets in the sky.

Thereafter Bhojaraja Kamsa, occupied the immensely beautiful and exteremly valuable platform, like an auspicious person boarding a Vimana (plane).

Then valorous Kamsa, made the intoxicated elephants with the mahouts to take position at the entrance gate which were decorated with various types of weapons.

О Naresvara, the immensely illustrious Kamsa, on hearing the arrival of both the brothers Balarama and Krishna like the son and the moon, who were the lions among the humans, in Mathura, then he became extra-alert about his safety. Then he thinking about Balarama and Shri Krishna, could not have a comfortable sleep in the night.

Both Balarama and Shri Krishna learning about the sports festival, tried to enter the sports chamber as a tiger enters in a cow pen.

While entering it, both the brothers were prevented from entering it by the guards. Then both the invincible brothers, killed the Kuvalyapldha elephant with the mahauts, reducing them to the dust. Thereafter they entered the sports chamber.

Both Shri Krishna and Balarama, reduced Сапйга and Andhraka to pulp. Then they killed Karhsa together with his wicked brothers.

Whatever feats were performed by Shri Krishna were beyond the competence of the gods, who else could perform such deeds without him?

The enormous fortunes which could not be received by Prahlada, Bali and Sambara in earlier times, the same have been brought by Shri Krishna for you, presently.

He attacking the demons Mura and Pancajanya, crossing several mountains, killed the Daitya Nisumba with his warriors.

He also killed Naraka — the son of the earth, who had usurped the ear rings of Aditi which were got back by Shri Krishna from Naraka.

O yadavas, all of you taking refuge under the strength of arms of Shri Krishna, discarding, fear, obstructions, and jealosy perform various types of yajnas.

The intelligent Shri Krishna, has established a huge task of the gods. Therefore I pray to all of you that let all of you meet with welfare.

О great warriors, what is desired by you shall be bestowed by me. I belong to you and you belong to me. I am lodged in you.

In this way I have enlightened you all about the glory of Shri Krishna at the behest of Indra. The same Indra at the best of gods had deputed me to this place. I feel satisfied with this.

Wherever there is wisdom, there resides Laksmi, wherever there is Shri Laksmi, there is humility, the Mahatma Krishna possesses all the three of them-wisdom, humility and Shri.”

Here ends chapter — 101, of Visnu Parva of the Harivariisa Purana, a supplement of the epic of Mahabharata, relating Narada highlighting the glory of Shri Krishna. (Vrs. 1-73, P.T. = 8838)
